My Story
I always wanted to be a Ghostbuster. But then I turned 10. I also wanted to be a professional basketball player. But I don’t have a consistent jump shot. Things change. My career path has been no different.
I used to be a newspaper man. I covered Husky football for the UW Daily and high school football for the Seattle P-I and Mobile (Ala.) Press-Register. I still cover high school football for The Seattle Times, but now I’m just a freelancer. I do it because I love it and because I’m good at it. As the communications and digital media guru for the University of Washington’s Office of Alumni and Constituent Relations, I am making great use of my masters’s program and growing professionally each and every day. My team just launched a blog that is becoming a hub for Huskies on the web. It’s called Blog Down to Washington and I invite you to check it out. This is one example of the community we are building online.
I believe in what I do, and the UW has been a big part of my life. I’m honored to be in the UW’s Master of Communication in Digital Media (MDCM) and am excited to see what the future holds. The program has changed my views on just about everything I know about business. Just look at Blog Down to Washington–I wouldn’t have anything to do with this if it weren’t for the MCDM. And that’s just the beginning of what I plan to do.
As we say in the MCDM, go big or go home. It’s that good.
